The Narrative Muse Matchmaker

Our Matchmaker asks a number of questions about your taste and identity. We do this in an open and transparent way so that you are able to consider what is most important to you. We use your answers to provide recommendations.

The Narrative Muse catalog

Our catalog is a resource for our curated book, movie, and TV favorites. Users may search this catalog and find content that hey'd like to read or watch. In order to make your experience as enjoyable as possible, we collect information about your usage of the catalog.

Commercial insights and analysis

In addition to connecting our users with books, movies, and TV series about women and gender diverse people, we also work with book publishers and movie/TV producers to create more content by and about women and gender diverse people. To do this, we use the anonymized, aggregated data of our users to gain insight about audiences' tastes and preferences. Through these insights, we are able to understand what content our audiences seek and thereby support publishers and producers to fulfill those needs.

Single sign on services

If you choose to log in to our site using single sign on (SSO) services from service providers such as Google, these services will allow us to authenticate your identity. The service provider will share basic, publicly available personal information such as your email address to us. Narrative Muse will use this information to speed up your login experience so that you don't need to authenticate your account using email.

Third parties and advertisers

We recommend content to our users that we think that they'll enjoy. If a user clicks on a link to buy content, they will be sent to a third-party website to purchase this content.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. The Amazon Services LLC Associates Program is designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. We are also a participant in the Performance Horizon Group Limited (PH) affiliate advertising program that operates on behalf of Apple Inc. Again, we earn fees by linking to Apple Inc. sites.

These third parties and advertisers may serve content and advertisements to our users. They may collect information directly from visitors, and place cookies on visitors' browsers. They may also use code to collect information from visitors. They may collect user IP addresses and browser details. They may process user personal data, including users' clicks on links and subsequent purchases. They may disclose users' personal data to advertisers and to PH and its associated companies. All the information we collect is used to help us improve our Products and better fulfill our mission of increasing representation of women and gender diverse folk in the entertainment industry. Things that you do

• We collect information that you provide when you use our Products. This includes when you create an account, save your preferences, rate your recommendations, and sort your recommendations. We do this so that we can save your selected preferences for the next time you return to our Product.
• We collect information about how you use our Products, such as the content that you engage with, the features that you use, the actions you take and the time, frequency and duration of your activities. We also note when you have used our Products and how you navigated to our Products. This is especially useful as we try to make the Narrative Muse experience as awesome as it can possibly be.
• We note when you have used any of our links to our advertising and affiliate partners. For our advertising partners, it's important to know the success of our promotions. And it is also important for us to know if you are able to find the content that you are looking for through our affiliate links.

Should we determine that your activity is in breach of Your Agreement and we are concerned for the safety of our community or services, we have the right to terminate or suspend your account. Should we determine that your activity is unlawful, we may also terminate or suspend your account.

You give us permission for the following when using our Products:

• Use your name and email when contacting you directly.
• Use your name when displaying sponsored content or ads across our Products.
• Install upgrades, updates and additional features to improve, enhance and further develop our Products.

The devices that you use

We note the devices that you use so that we are able to provide better services for your devices in the future.

We collect information about how you navigate through our Products across your phone, computer, or tablet so that we can understand whether our Products are working as best they can. • We may provide sponsored recommendations and ads that are specific for you. Based on what we know of your taste and preferences, we may connect you with sponsored ads, offers, and other content that we believe are a great match for you.

Commercial insight and analysis services

We use information that we collect to provide audience insights to our commercial partners. In order to maintain the integrity of our users, we anonymize and aggregate this data. We do this by removing all personal markers that connect your taste, identity information, and preferences from your personally identifying information. And we combine your data with data about our other users, which means your information becomes part of a much larger measurement of information in which we look at data trends.

We will never use your name, social media accounts, or email with any of our commercial partnerships. We will never sell your name, social media account information, or email to a third party.

We also use the information that we collect to help advertisers and commercial partners measure the effectiveness and distribution of their ads and sponsored content, and understand the types of people who have been served these recommendations.

Communication with you

We may use the information you provide to send you reminders about your recommendations, updates about our Products and services, marketing communications, and to let you know about any updates to our Terms and Conditions. We also use your information to respond to you when you contact us.

We use the information that we collect to conduct and support research and innovation on topics such as recommendation engines, audience behavior, technological advancement, and the need for more representation in media by and about women and gender diverse people. Any information that you share from our Products is at your discretion. We will never share any of your information publicly on any platform.

Advertisers

We may provide advertisers with reports about the kinds of people seeing their ads and how their ads are performing, but we don't share information that personally identifies you (information such as your name or email address that by itself can be used to contact you or identifies who you are) unless you give us permission. For example, we provide general demographic and interest information to advertisers (for example, that an ad was seen by a woman between the age of 35 and 49 who lives in Canada and likes books about the arts) to help them better understand their audience. We also confirm which Narrative Muse ads led users to make a purchase or take an action with an advertiser.

Measurement partners

We may share anonymized information about users with companies that aggregate it in order to provide analytics and measurement reports to our partners.

Vendors and service providers

How can I delete my account?

You may delete your account at any time. You do this by going to My account, Email, and then Delete account. Your personal information including your name, email address, and social media account connections will be deleted. We will be unable to retrieve your matches, recommendations, preferences and information again, should you want them.

How is your information used globally?

We store the information that we collect on servers provided by our service providers around the globe. We use best practice to ensure that all of our data remains safe and secure.

We share information globally, both internally within the Narrative Muse companies, and externally with our partners and with those you connect and share with around the world in accordance with this Policy. Your information may, for example, be transferred or transmitted to, or stored and processed in the United States or other countries outside of where you live for the purposes as described in this Policy. These data transfers are necessary to provide the services set forth in the Narrative Muse Terms and Conditions, and to globally operate and provide our Products to you. We utilize standard contract clauses, rely on the European Commission adequacy decisions about certain countries, as applicable, and obtain your consent for these data transfers to the United States and other countries.
